Binding Spells

Binding spells are any kind of magick that you use to force your will on someone, usually to stop them from doing something. Binding them up makes them powerless. One exception would be with love spells. A binding love spell is one where you bind a person to you, and basically make them fall in love with you.

But for our purposes in this section on protection spells, I’m going with the first interpretation and focusing on spells to keep someone from doing harm to you or your family. Remember that these spells should not be relied upon when you are in serious physical danger, at least not on their own.

Keep Away

This is one of the most basic binding spells, best used to keep someone away who is bothering you. Be it an annoying co-worker or a pesty ex. It doesn’t really stop any specific action, just keeps them out of your path. Your spell supplies:

• A piece of cardboard
• A long piece of black yarn
• Black marker

Cut out the rough shape of a person from the cardboard, and write the person’s name on it in big letters with the marker. If you don’t know their name, this spell won’t be as effective but you can still give it a shot. Write how you know them instead (like “weird guy on bus”).

Start chanting the following words, while you wrap the cardboard around and around with black yarn.

I bind you left,
I bind you right,
I bind you now,
Stay out of my sight
I bind you day,
I bind you night,
I bind you now,
With all my might

Keep repeating the words and wrapping until the little cardboard person is well covered-up. Tie three knots to secure the yarn.You can then bury the charm outside, or just prop it up on your altar. If you do that, then repeat the chant each day to keep it working.

Black Candle Bound

Another traditional binding spell that involves knots and wrapping with string. Black candles can be hard to find, so you can use a dark purple, blue or brown one instead. You need:

• A black candle
• A length of rough twine
• A length of black yarn
• A length of black thread
• Sandalwood oil

The exact lengths of the cords doesn’t matter, just use the same for all three. About 18 inches works well. Anoint the candle with sandalwood oil while you concentrate on the person you want to get out of your life. Wrap the black thread around the candle until you use the whole length, then tie it tightly. Then the yarn, and then the twine on top of that.

Light the candle, and let it burn out completely. Try to do this spell in the evening, letting the candle burn down overnight. Keep it somewhere safe and flameproof because the strings might catch fire as the candle burns down.

If binding spells aren’t exactly what you are looking for, there are curse-breaking spells or reversal spells that might be more suitable for your situation.
