Magic Spells for Kids
Knowing a few magic spells for kids can be a good first step in introducing children to doing witchcraft spells and rituals on their own.
Pet Blessing
This is a good family spell if you get a new pet in your home, but you can do a pet blessing any time. Your spell supplies:
- Something to represent your pet
- A white candle
- Dried rosemary
- A small dish
If you have a furry pet, get some of their fur (or feathers) for this spell. You can just use a drawing with their name on it if it’s the kind of pet where this wouldn’t work, like a frog.
Light the candle, and fill the little dish with some dried rosemary. Take the item you are using to represent your pet and wave it gently through the smoke (not the flame). Say the following out loud:
Bless our pet, he is part of our home
Bless our pet, he is not alone
Bless our pet, keep him well
Bless our pet, with this spell
Leave the fur or drawing in the dish with the rosemary on your altar while the candle burns down all the way. After that, tuck the object you used away in a safe place.
Banish a Cold Spell
Healing spells aren’t always the best magic spells for kids, but a simple little ritual to help get rid of a cold would suit most children just fine. You will need:
- Piece of paper
- Blue markers or crayons
- A black marker
- A small cardboard box or envelope
Your child should draw a picture of what they think their cold looks like on the paper, in blue. Be creative and just get an image out there. It doesn’t need to be a picture of themselves, just the cold.
When the drawing is done, say out loud “I banish you cold, do as your told!” and then scribble all over the picture in black. After that, tear up the picture into little pieces, put them in a little box (any container would do really), and stick it in the freezer. Your cold should get the hint and get lost.
